Russell Gulch Cemetery, located just outside Central City, CO, is a historical and scenic cemetery that belongs to Rocky Mountain Lodge No. 2 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Our lodge established it in the mid-1800’s. We’re currently in the process of sorting through our records, but are eager to make available any information we have about the cemetery as soon as possible.

Please contact us at rm2lodge@gmail.com if you have any questions or are looking for information about burials. We’re eager and happy to help.

History

On September 28, 1865, our lodge appointed a committee to find a burial place for Odd Fellows and their families, now known as the Russell Gulch Cemetery near Central City. This proved to be a significant project for the lodge, involving construction of fencing and setting up official death records.

The cemetery fell into disrepair with the decline of both mining activities and lodge activities at the turn of the century. Interest in the cemetery by our Odd Fellows picked up again some decades later, and between 1953 and 1958 a new fence was placed around it.

With our lodge becoming more active, we aim to give more care and love to the Russell Gulch Cemetery.
